Abstract

The article describes in detail the prominent contribution of Professor K.P. Gorshenin into the establishment and development of the Siberian school of soil scientists and agronomic pedology, giving also the main events of Gorshenin's professional biography and scientific activity during his work at the Department of Soil Science of the Omsk Agricultural Institute. The main results of his research in the field of geography, cartography, genesis, properties and fertility characteristics of Siberian soils of the vast area from the Urals to the Lake Baikal are provided.
